Who is Behind Flamingo Road Nursery...Meet Frank Escobar

How old is the nursery, and how long have you been here?

The garden center has been opened since 2005. I became the COO in November of 2021. I am now Owner/CEO/President

How did the idea of including a café within the nursery come about?

The idea was to create a Breakfast/Brunch place where you can relax just like you relax when you are surrounded by plants. Our menu has continued to expand over the years

What types of events do you hold at the nursery?

Our biggest event is Fall festival each year September through first week of November

What is the biggest challenge of running a nursery of this type?

Find employees that love people as much as they love plants. It’s a challenge

What advice would you give to someone considering opening a similar nursery?

Advice would be to create an entertainment venue where people can spend an entire day. You need more than just plants. We have the largest gift shop and pottery selection in south Florida and a place to eat. You need all of that to differentiate yourself in this hyper competitive market

How do you manage the logistics of having pets in the nursery and What measures do you take to ensure the plants and pets are healthy and happy?

Dogs are always welcomed. We just make sure they have clean bowls with water. Dogs are nicer than people

What plans do you have to expand or improve the nursery in the future?

We want to increase the amount of events in our property. We want couples to be married here. Our growth depends on more events.

What is the concept behind this unique nursery?

We have over 50 employees and their top priority is to take care of the plants. You can see that our plant quality is second to none this is due to our employees love for the plants.
